About me

I'm an amateur photographer from Cheshire, in the Northwest of England. I've been passionate about photography and cameras for as long as I can remember.

I shoot gardens and architecture, some macro and general travel images. You can see some of my images in my blog posts, or in my portfolio pages.

I started out with a Halina 35mm film camera in the early 1970's. (It was a hand-me-down from some family member or other). I then progressed through more advanced compacts to my first SLR, a Pentax SF7, in the late 80's. That kept me going for quite a while, until I tried out this new-fangled digital photography. That was around the turn of the millennium. Since then I've worked my way through dozens of digital cameras. I've had DSLRs, bridge cameras, and fixed-lens compacts, and lately the standard of cameras on smartphones has impressed me. I've also recently rediscovered some interesting old film cameras.
